Icons of electronic music in the programme of this year’s edition of the Eufonie Festival!
On 26 November, Markus Popp and Jacek Sienkiewicz will perform at the iconic Akwarium Club in Warsaw, presenting their interpretations of samples of the Polish Radio Experimental Studio.
Markus Popp has been associated with the Oval project for 30 years, considered a pioneer of glitch: a genre of electronic music characterized by the use of short, minimalist sound samples and controlled interference with sound waves. He will be accompanied on stage by Jacek Sienkiewicz, electronic music producer and DJ, regarded as a pioneer and the first promoter of techno in Poland.
At the Eufonie Festival, the musicians will face the rich output of the Polish Radio Experimental Studio. It was here, in the years 1957–2004, that electronic and experimental music, independent compositions, sound illustrations for radio plays, pieces for theatre performances, choreographies and film productions were created. The most important Polish musicians of the second half of the 20th century were associated with the Polish Radio Experimental Studio, e.g. Krzysztof Penderecki, Tomasz Stańko, Elżbieta Sikora, Paweł Szymański, Krzesimir Dębski and Bogusław Schaeffer.
