Venceslao, re di Polonia
November 17 @ 19:30
In 1725, a five-act opera by Venetian composer Antonio Caldara with a libretto by Apostolo Zeno was premiered at the imperial court in Vienna. Venceslao re di Polonia disappeared from the stage immediately afterwards. Martyna Pastuszka reached the work’s score in the Viennese archives and, together with {oh!} Orchestra, brought it back to life after more than 300 years. The opera’s plot was set in Krakow, inspired by the story of Wladyslaw IV Vasa.
