She completed her studies with distinction at the Faculty of Vocal Studies and Acting at the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk. Afterwards, she concluded her studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg, also with distinction. She was granted scholarships by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and also received the prestigious DAAD scholarship in Germany. For her outstanding artistic achievements, she has been recognised with the Award of the City of Gdańsk ‘Młody Twórca Kultury’ (Young Creator of Culture), the Theatre Award of the City of Gdańsk and a Jan Kiepura Music Theatre Award in the Best Polish Female Singer category.
Prizewinner of national and international vocal competitions. She cooperates with opera houses and philharmonic societies both in Poland and abroad. She has appeared on numerous concert stages worldwide presenting rich oratorio, cantata and chamber music repertoire, from Baroque to contemporary music, for example, at such festivals as La Folle Journée, Mozarteum Brasileiro, Hagia Ireni Istanbul Festival, Granada Festival, Rheingau Musik Festival, Händel-Festspiele, Stagione Concertistica, Mikkeli Music Festival, Polish Music Festival in Lviv, Festival Casals San Juan, Prague Spring Festival.
Since 2009, Karolina Sikora has been cooperating with the Baltic Opera in Gdańsk. Her repertoire covers 25 mezzo-soprano roles. At the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera in Warsaw, she has performed in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, Verdi’s Rigoletto, Mozart’s The Magic Flute and Debussy’s Pelléas et Mélisande. She has also worked with the Opera at the Castle in Szczecin (as Miss Jessel in Britten’s The Turn of the Screw) and with the Cracow Opera in Donizetti’s Anna Bolena (as Jane Seymour). As a guest soloist of the ensemble of the Komische Oper Berlin, she made her stage debut at the opera houses in Paris (Opéra Comique) and Moscow (Bolshoi Theatre – New Stage) as well as took part in tours of Japan, China and Taiwan.
Karolina Sikora worked closely with Krzysztof Penderecki. On a number of occasions, she participated in concerts conducted by the composer himself in Poland and abroad, performing his works: Credo, Seven Gates of Jerusalem, Te Deum. The promotion of Penderecki’s compositions in Poland and around the world will continue to be an important part of the artist’s future concert activities.
In 2022, she began teaching at the Academy of Music in Gdańsk and at the Secondary State Music School in Słupsk.
