Iwona Hossa is considered one of the leading sopranos of her generation. The artist’s domain is, above all, the precision and technical possibilities of an extremely versatile voice, extraordinary purity of sound and captivating timbre. Her vocal artistry has been admired in many places around the world, where she always charms audiences and gains critical acclaim.

She graduated with honors from the Vocal and Acting Department of the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań (Poland). She collaborates with many opera theaters and symphony orchestras in Poland and abroad. She is a laureate of the Grand Prix and the Gold Medal at the International Maria Callas Vocal Competition in Athens. She is a versatile artist. Its rich repertoire includes works from early to modern music.

She has performed under the baton of such conductors as: David Lloyd-Jones, David Agler, Maurizio Benini, Gabriel Chmura, Charles Dutoit, Gustavo Dudamel, Kazimierz Kord, Jan Krenz, Jacek Kaspszyk, Jerzy Maksymiuk, John Neschling, Grzegorz Nowak, Krzysztof Penderecki, Jerzy Semkow, Stanisław Skrowaczewski and Antoni Wit. She has recorded 27 CDs and DVDs, mainly with Polish music. Most of them have received prestigious phonographic awards, such as the International Classical Music Awards in the Contemporary Music or Orphée d’Or category, as well as nominations for Fryderyk and Grammy Awards.

Iwona Hossa had the honor of working with Krzysztof Penderecki and has in her repertoire all the vocal and instrumental works of the composer. She has performed many world premieres of pieces of Polish contemporary music, including Krzysztof Penderecki, Wojciech Kilar, Jerzy Maksymiuk and Henryk Mikołaj Górecki. She is an educator (Post-Doctoral degree of Musical Arts) and culture manager. Awarded, among others with the Medal for Merit to Culture – Gloria Artis and the silver Cross of Merit awarded by The President of Poland.
