Opera and theatre director, graduate of the Theatre Academy in Warsaw. Author of operatic and dramatic performances, radio plays, performative readings and performances for children.

Tomasz Cyz has directed such operas as Rusalka by Antonín Dvořák (Grand Theatre in Łódź, 2010), Passion – Fragments after St Luke’s Passion by Krzysztof Penderecki (Warsaw, 2013) and Dido and Aeneas by Henry Purcell (Warsaw Chamber Opera, 2022). As far as dramatic theatre is concerned, he has directed such plays as My First Death in Venice by Justyna Bargielska (Dramatyczny Theatre in Warsaw, 2015), After Exile on motifs from Czesław Miłosz’s poetry (Miłosz Festival/Nowy Theatre in Cracow, 2017) and There Was Love in the Ghetto (Jewish Theatre in Warsaw, 2021). Among the radio plays implemented by the artist, it is worth mentioning Kobiety, którymi nie byłam [Women That I Was Not] by Aldona Kopkiewicz based on Wisława Szymborska’s oeuvre. For the Television Theatre, Tomasz Cyz directed the monodrama Clarissima by Justyna Bargielska starring Aleksandra Justa (2019).

Winner of many awards, for example, ‘Don Quixote 2023’ for his directorial debut as part of the Polish Radio Theatre, for the ‘Best Performance’ at the 17th Jan Kiepura Theatre Music Awards (2023). Author of poetic and musical performances – Ginczanka’s Room (with Maria Dębska) or Tranströmer’s Room (with Krzysztof Globisz).
